February 2023
Allison and Brian’s wedding was full of emeralds, rich green velvet and dark greenery with warm gold accents and classic white flowers to offset the chilly winter weather of Central Illinois. For Allison, we designed an elegant cascading bridal bouquet of all white and green flowers featuring playa blanca roses, cream calla lilies, and textural ginestra with deep greenery of Italian and Israeli ruscus. Groomsmen adorned simple spray rose boutonnieres to compliment bridesmaids white and green bouquets to pop off their emerald dresses. Other specialty pieces were created for the bridal party including a brides-man floral pocket square, a flower girl halo, a floral comb, and mothers corsages.
The ceremony decor began with two, tall gold stand floral arrangements filled with white flowers and an abundance of rich dark greenery at the start of the aisle. Candle groupings lined the sides of the aisle to the altar where two more tall stand pieces joined the couple as they shared their wedding vows in front of Pear Tree’s large windows and white draping. These pieces were repurposed during the reception as table centerpieces to add height, interest, and variety to the table décor.
A champagne wall seating chart led guests into the reception space where candlelight glow lit the base of the tall stands in emerald cut-glass votives. Other round tables had centerpieces of gold hexagon floral arrangements and another style of pillar candle groupings surrounded by greens. The farmhouse head table had an elegant emerald velvet table runner with romantic greenery paired with emerald votives along the front to bring a warm glow to the wedding party. Floral details of white roses, ginestra, and ruscus greenery added a final touch to the couple’s 4-tier ‘naked’ wedding cake to bring together the whole evening.
At J.Blu Design, we love a winter wedding! Something about the warm colors, rich textures, and that candlelight glow you just can’t beat. Congratulations to Allison and Brian!
