August 2024
Another dreary midwest Spring day leads me to reminisce about summer weddings past. Courtney and Will celebrated their special day at Carmon’s in Champaign on a beautiful August day filled with sunshine with an abundance of white flowers to contrast rich emerald greens. We designed Courtney’s bridal bouquet with lush blooms of white lisianthus and playa blanca roses with an abundance of textural waxflower, calcynia, statice, and Italian ruscus greenery in a loose and organic shape. Maids held smaller versions of the white bouquets that beautifully contrasted their long emerald dresses. Our groom, Will, matched his bride with a unique white iris with greenery accented boutonniere to stand out among the rest in classic black tuxedos.
To save their guests from the heat of summer, Courtney and Will opted for a romantic indoor ceremony at Carmon’s. We placed two large accent pieces at the back of the modern acrylic chairs that lined the aisle to a stunning arbor at the altar. The wooden arbor backdrop was adorned with asymmetrical floral sprays filled with trailing dark ruscus greens with pops of white rose, lisianthus, scabiosa, and delphinium blooms and delicate fillers of statice, waxflower, and calcynia to frame the couple as they exchanged vows.
During cocktail hour, the ceremony space got quickly flipped into a reception area with the arbor then serving to backdrop a romantic U-shaped head table topped with rich greens along the entire edge paired with flickering floating candles and votives in elegant gold holders. Greenery runners with floating candles also spanned the length of each farmhouse guest table as a simple, yet effective romantic centerpiece design. Simple, rich greens are additionally an easy way to elevate plain tables, signs, and cakes into eye-catching accent pieces without breaking your budget.
Will and Courtney’s greenery filled summer wedding was a magical evening and at J.Blu, we are always so grateful to be trusted to flower your special day and most important moments. Congrats again to the new Mr. and Mrs.!
