We love when clients become friends over the process of designing their wedding flowers but, even better is when friends become our clients! Kelsie and Drew’s wedding was especially sweet to design because Kelsie didn’t start out as one of our brides, but as part of our team at J.Blu Design. Kelsie owns her own company called The Social Day, a social media management and content creation business. On our team, she did the valuable work of taking behind the scenes photos and videos and creating personalized reels for our social media; something we had been neglecting and too caught up in the work to do. We were thrilled when she announced her engagement and asked us to attend the nuptials and of course design the flowers!
Kelsie and Drew chose a fun and bright spring color palette filled with peaches, pinks, yellow, coral, purple, and blue flowers. The large, hand-tied bridal bouquet featured lush seasonal pink peonies and shimmer roses, delicate orlaya, blue delphinium, purple campanula bellflowers and veronica, with pops of hot pink ranunculus and touches of variegated pittosporum greenery to tie it all together. Kelsie’s lavender clad maids each held petite bouquets composed of a unique single type of flower including ranunculus, delphinium, campanula, and peonies. Our groom, Drew, was not left out with an equally colorful pocket style boutonniere to match his bride. Last but not least of the personals were miniature nosegay bouquets given to the mothers of the bride and groom filled with just a few shimmer rose blooms, a large peony, and accenting purple veronica and textural astilbe.
With bright, eye-catching personals, we had to have a big and bold ceremony statement piece to match. Northwoods Community Church’s intimate chapel altar made a big impact with a simple wooden cross backdrop adorned with an organically shaped floral spray of the same vivid pink, peach, blue and purple blooms. Post-ceremony, this arrangement was cut down and repurposed as a lush, sweetheart table centerpiece that framed our newlyweds for the rest of the night’s festivities at The Gateway Building in downtown Peoria. Thank you Kelsie and Drew for letting us be a part of your story and we wish you a lifetime of happiness together as the new Mr. and Mrs. Copeland!
