October 2024
After a long winter, we are so excited to finally have fresh flowers filling the studio regularly once again as we dive into our 2025 wedding season! One trend we see returning this season is the classic color palette of rich emerald greens paired with crisp contrasting white blooms. One of my favorite examples of this theme was Samantha and Brett’s romantic wedding day last fall at The Venue CU in downtown Champaign. We designed a lush, organically shaped bridal bouquet for Sam filled with luxurious blooms of white garden roses, playa blanca roses, ranunculus, and stock with textural elements of dainty astrantia, waxflower, and limonium paired with olive, Italian ruscus, grevillea, and huckleberry greens. Brett matched his bride with a complimenting pocket style boutonniere over a classic black tuxedo while his groomsmen pinned on traditional style white ranunculus boutonnieres. Maids’ similar, more petite bouquets to Sam’s, popped off their silky satin emerald gowns to round out the wedding party personals.
Guests were welcomed into the indoor ceremony space with a simple, black-iron framed welcome sign adorned with a romantic spray arrangement of deep huckleberry, trailing ruscus, olive, grevillea, and gumdrop eucalyptus greens with pops of just a few white blooms. The bride’s ceremony entrance was filled with awe as she stepped down a staircase draped with greens and romantically lit at the bottom with an abundance of pillar candles and white roses. We lined the aisle with petite gold scalloped compote bowl arrangements that led to a showstopping floating installation piece at the altar where Sam and Brett exchanged their vows.
The romance continued into the reception as guests trickled into the cocktail hour bar area during a quick room flip where we added floral details to the bar tops and simple bud vase arrangements to the tables. Guests found their seats using the large seating chart display attached to the staircase highlighted with clusters of fresh blooms and a large arrangement at the base. A combination of long farmhouse style tables and white linen covered round tables filled the space topped with a variety of centerpieces featuring taper candle groupings, gold compote bowl arrangements, bud vase designs, and candle and greenery runners that kept the romantic glow going all night. Of course the focal point for the reception was Sam and Brett’s sweetheart table that sat front and center under the hanging floral backdrop from the ceremony and lined in front with two large floor arrangements to frame the newlyweds in fresh and romantic blooms for the remainder of the evening.
There are so many ways a simple white and green color palette can be manipulated to create a unique design based on each couple’s vision, theme, and personalities. We loved seeing this particular wedding come to life through the details and we are so thankful to be trusted to flower for your special day. Congrats again to the new Mr. and Mrs. Foran!
