There’s a feeling we get when designing in a new venue for the very first time. Excitement? Anticipation? Maybe a little apprehensive? Hayley and Blake’s summer wedding at Lakeview did not disappoint! The floor to ceiling windows are a florist’s dream bringing in an abundance of natural light that highlights every floral detail. For our very first wedding at this venue, Hayley and Blake chose a soft and romantic look with a blush, blue, and white color palette with lavish greenery accents.
In front of the large windows in the ceremony space, we placed a trio of sleek, modern white pillars on either side of the altar to frame the couple as they exchanged vows. We topped two on each side with romantic arrangements in gold compote bowls and a cluster of floating candles on the third shortest pillar in front. To accompany Hayley down the aisle, we designed a lush bouquet featuring white dahlias, ranunculus, and stock with light blush blooms of roses and lisianthus with blue accents of delphinium and tweedia rounded out with a light touch of eucalyptus greenery. Waiting at the altar, Blake and his groomsmen adorned complimenting traditional style boutonnieres to grey tuxes while maids in periwinkle gowns carried smaller versions of the brides bouquet. Not a fan of toss petals down the aisle or simply not allowed at your venue? This flower-girl instead, held a precious little basket filled with the sweetest flowers – a trend we see more couples choosing and we love to design!
Lakeview’s reception space was even more remarkable than the ceremony with vast windows on three sides, engulfing the room in sunshine that faded to a romantic golden hour glow. The main attraction was front and center – a grand King’s Table that set the tone for the evening ahead to seat the wedding party, close guests, and family for an intimate and connected dinner. At double the width of a standard banquet table, this setup created ample space for a lush floral and greenery runner peppered with candlelight and full place settings on the periwinkle linens without feeling crowded. Of course the newlyweds had their own love-seat of honor at the head of the table to share the moment with their favorite people. The rest of the guest tables were no less impressive with rounds topped with three distinct centerpiece styles. The first, was a smaller version of the ceremony gold compote pieces surrounded with a trio of neutral taper candles and romantic votives. To add some height, the second design boasted large arrangements atop dreamy, ribbed glass trumpet vases with taper candles around the base. The last style featured a unique gold candelabra wrapped with a romantic floral wreath. To complete the charming atmosphere, we added even more fresh blooms to the stage, the welcome sign, the photo backdrop, and even touches of trailing greenery to the champagne and dessert carts.
Every detail of Hayley and Blake’s celebration was carefully planned and thoughtfully designed with floral and greenery touches around every corner. We certainly love when a couple chooses flowers to be a priority for their day! We hope our first time at Lakeview won’t be our last and looking back at this day has us itching even more for the chance to return to this breathtaking space. And to the newlyweds – thank you for trusting J.Blu with your vision and we wish you a marriage as beautiful and happy as this day certainly was!
