Allison & Grant | Romantic Light Blue and Blush Summer Wedding at Carmon’s in Champaign, IL

At J.Blu, one of our favorite parts of the wedding designing process is simply getting to know our couples on a personal level to truly understand their unique vision so we can best bring it to life. That is why we choose to only book a single wedding per weekend – so we can give all our focus to each couple. As University of Illinois alumni ourselves, Allison and Grant’s ILL inspired Champaign wedding was an easy idea to get behind. To keep the summer wedding soft and romantic, we stuck to a muted light blue and white color palette for the flowers with just a hint of blush that easily complimented the sky blue maids gowns and the mens navy attire as well as showcase the stunning backdrop of the university for the newlywed portraits.

Allison’s large bouquet featured mostly white blooms of playa blanca roses, ranunculus, orlaya, and veronica with pops of blue delphinium and light accents of blush roses with minimal greenery. As an extra special touch, the bouquet was held together with a custom wrap made from fabric from the mother of the bride’s own wedding gown. Those little personal details are memories that will last forever! Instead of matching the bride’s bouquet, we opted for romantic monochromatic bouquets of all white for the maids that popped off their sky blue gowns. Grant and his navy clad groomsmen adorned classic, traditional style boutonnieres composed of a single white rose with a blue delphinium accent.

The large warehouse reception space of Carmon’s in Champaign was filled with romantic charm to celebrate Allison and Grant. We focused on three distinct table runner centerpiece styles for the natural wood farmhouse guest tables topped with romantic white runners and blue glassware. Our first design featured the heaviest amount of florals with a centered antique gold compote bowl arrangement paired on either side with a small cluster of blue taper candles in gold holders and petite glowing votives. The second look utilized a popular, minimalist style of simple bud vase arrangements set down the length of the table alternating with votive candles in ribbed glass holders. The last design had no flowers included at all, instead topped with a combination of pillar and floating candles over a runner of romantic trailing greens. Having a variety of centerpiece styles is always a tip we recommend! Of course we also love a statement piece, or in this case, six large floor arrangements that lined the center dance floor at the end of the long tables. These statement designs matched dual pieces laid in front of the head table which was topped with a romantic and glowing front edge runner of a combination of all the rest – floating candles, bud vases, votives, and the light blue taper candles in front of a whimsical backdrop of white wisteria trees. For finishing touches, we added fresh blooms to the couples two-tiered wedding cake to bring everything together.

While we truly enjoy the creativity that comes with designing flowers, what really sets us apart as a studio florist is the personal connection we get to share with each and every one of our couples. Thank you Allison and Grant for letting us be a part of one of the best days of your lives and trusting J.Blu to carry out your wedding vision. Congrats to the Millers and go I-L-L!
