Lauren & Joel | Colorful Spring Wedding at the Venue CU in Champaign, IL

May 2023

Lauren and Joel chose a cheery color scheme with a woodland vibe for their Spring wedding at The Venue CU. Lauren loves orange but wanted to make sure we steered clear of Illini orange and blue. Instead, we chose to incorporate pale orange, yellow, and pale blues along with the deeper orange colors for a bright and cheerful look. In the bridal bouquet, we took full advantage of in season blooms featuring delicate poppies, tulips, Queen Anne’s lace, tweedia, feverfew, and ranunculus with fern greenery to add a woodland touch all tied with a light blue trailing ribbon. Bridesmaids kept it simple with orange snapdragon bouquets that popped off their light blue flowing dresses. Orange and peach ranunculus and greenery corsages and boutonnieres added a matching pop of color to mothers wrists and groomsmens jackets to create a cohesive wedding party look.

The couple has a love for nature and wanted that to come across in their celebration. A few different varieties of fern, tree stumps, and branches helped bring the forest inside. Guests were welcomed into the ceremony space with a glass welcome sign adorned with a bright floral spray to add pops of blue, yellow, and orange paired with tree stumps at the base to bring the woodland feel. Poppy, tulip, and blue delphinium bud vase arrangements accompanied the couples unplugged ceremony sign and programs. The highlight of the ceremony décor was the gold circle arbor with a large floral spray filled with poppies, tulips, queen anne’s lace, blue delphinium, feverfew, carnations, snapdragons and greenery with three floral arrangements in light blue pots on top of cut tree stumps. These altar pieces were all repurposed for the reception with the arbor moving behind the wedding party table and the blue pots becoming round table centerpieces.

The reception space had a combination of long farmhouse tables and round tables. For the long tables, we used alternating bud vase arrangements and small cut wood pieces from the couples property paired with simple white votives in clear glass holders for a rustic and romantic runner. Round tables had either light-blue pot floral centerpieces or a light and airy bud vase trio with tree stumps, greenery and votives with complimenting wood table numbers. Lastly, we can’t forget the stunning two-tier white wedding cake by Cakes by Lori with colorful fresh blooms of ranunculus, billy balls, ruscus, and eucalyptus greenery to complete the wedding day floral design.

We love when couples come to us with personal details that we can incorporate into their wedding day floral design and of course the opportunity to work with lots of bright colors! Lauren and Joel’s wedding was a one of a kind day to remember. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Firkins!
